I gave The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin to my niece. It's also fun to give kids Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends.
You gave me a book when you gave Cat the Rushdie book, but I can't remember what it was! I don't think it was any of the ones you have listed....
